A hybrid power grid with unconventional power sources is described. The grid can successfully be operated in remote regions, where the development of the power system is not envisaged and the cost of fuel is very high because of transportation. The hybrid power grid is based on simultaneous application of diesel-generators, storage batteries, photovoltaic antennas (solar elements) and wind turbines. The problem of optimum power take-off in the hybrid grid is considered. The problems of optimization of series-parallel connection of physical modules, effective conversion of direct current voltage into alternative current voltage with the help of the inverter, designing of the filters for reducing the sine signal distortion, etc. have been solved.

COGENERATION - THE EFFECTIVE METHOD OF ENERGY SAVING AND OVERCOMING THE ENERGETIC CRISIS IN GEORGIA

Chitashvili G.P.

Georgian Technical University

The dual energy crisis (existing in power and heat supply) developed in Georgia has been analyzed. It was proved that overcoming the energy crisis in fast and effective way is mostly possible by constructing gas-turbine cogeneration plants. These plants can be designed on the basis of the existing boilers. It was figured out that the gas-turbine combined heat and power plants are the most effective, cheap and ecologically safe facilities of power and heat supply.

Operation of these plants will significantly reduce the use of organic fuel and will eliminate the basic power shortage existing in the energy system of Georgia.

PECULIARITIES OF THE POWER INDEXES OF ELECTRIC DRIVES OF JIG-BACK AERIAL TRAMWAYS

Laoshvili D.P. and Chunashvili B.M.

Georgian Technical University

Electric drive indexes of jig-back aerial tramways are considered. The methods of determining configurations and parameters of the cabin movement trajectory are presented. A typical loading diagram was drawn up for thorough investigation of the power peculiarities of electric drives of double-transit jig-back aerial tramways with intermediate supports. From the results of the investigation, it is evident that the sign of the electric drives total loading changes several times during one operational cycle. That fact is the basic cause of appearance of persistent electromechanic fluctuations deteriorating the power indexes of the electric drives.

QUASIOPTIMUM CONTROL SYSTEM OF AN ASYNCHRONOUS ELECTRICAL DRIVE OF AERIAL TRAMWAYS

Chunashvili B.M.

Georgian Technical University

A simple and reliable method of controlling the speed and the critical moment of dynamic retardation of the asynchronous engine with a squirrel-cage rotor is considered. The method is based on application of the dynamic retardation sensor, the operation principle of which consists in the fact that, at a decrease in the engine rotation angular speed in the dynamic retardation mode, the engine magnetic flow changes insignificantly but, when the speed approaches the critical value of the moment, that flow increases abruptly. Basing on the described method, a quasioptimum control system for the asynchronous electrical drive of aerial tramways was developed. The system is characterized by high precision of positioning and improved dynamic indexes.
